The period to pre-apply for an apartment at the new Park Avenue Apartments in Minneapolis is now closed.

These new affordable housing units, located at 24th Street and Park Avenue in Minneapolis, will open in September 2008, and are adjacent to the new Lutheran Social Service’s Center for Changing Lives.

All 48 units in the building are affordable, with 38 units targeted for households earning up to 50% area media income, which is approximately $40,450 for a family of four. The remaining 10 units will be designated for households experiencing long-term homelessness. The project is part of Lutheran Social Service’s effort to end long-term homelessness for children in Minnesota by 2015.

Park Avenue Apartments will offer one-to-four bedroom units that can accommodate from one individual to a family of eight, depending on the unit. On-site laundry facilities, a playground, a convenient bus line, access to social services, underground parking and local health and retail services will be all available. The apartments are also being constructed with green features, including rain gardens, energy-conserving fixtures and appliances, low-flow water use and recycled materials.
